Refrigerant Change Notice
Important Refrigerant Change Notice: Transition from R-410A to Environmentally Friendly Options
As part of ongoing environmental regulations, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has phased out R-410A refrigerant, which has been commonly used in heating and cooling systems for decades. To help keep you up to date, we want to share some important information with you.
As of January 1, 2025, production of units that require R-410A refrigerant has ceased, with the installation of these units allowed only until December 31, 2025. Throughout this transition period, manufacturers and contractors alike will have to fully transition to newer, more environmentally friendly A2L refrigerants such as R-32 and R-454B.
What Does This Mean for You?
- Potential Price Changes: As production of R-410A units stopped at the end of 2024, availability has now become more limited. If inventory runs out prior to your installation date, we will need to adjust your quote based on the newer, EPA-compliant units. We will be offering both R-410A and R-454B/R-32 products during this time of transition as they are available, until our inventory of R-410A units has depleted. If you received a quote for a system using R-410A, please know that we will do our best to fulfill that commitment, however if we do not have product available, we will need to provide you with a new quote.
- Price Adjustments: While we strive to keep costs manageable, systems using the new refrigerants may be more expensive due to increased manufacturer costs of the new refrigerant, as well as increased production costs with the addition of leak sensors. Additionally, when adding A2L equipment to your home’s comfort system, it’s important to note that the entire system must be A2L compliant. We will always provide you with the most accurate and fair pricing that is available.
- We’re Here to Help: Our goal has always been to help keep you comfortable at home, and that is not changing! It is our current understanding, existing R-410A equipment can continue to be serviced without issue. We will provide full support for repairs and maintenance as long as your system remains in use, and refrigerant and service components will still be available to ensure your equipment remains functional and efficient.
Our team is here to help guide you through this transition and ensure you have all the facts to help you make your purchasing decision with confidence. Should you have any questions about how this process might affect your bid, installation, or future use of your equipment, please feel free to contact us.
